Brain Toniq

Coffee not cutting it? Red Bull taste too much like urine (don’t ask)? There is an alternative. With over two years (that’s more than 24 months for those of you counting at home) of research, Brain Toniq ($54/24-pack) was developed to revolutionize the world of energy drinks. It’s actually so revolutionary that it doesn’t even include caffeine, instead boasting ingredients like Choline, Eleutherococcus, Rhodiola Rosea Extract, DMAE and Blue Green Algae. The drink is said to alleviate brain fog without making you jittery and/or homicidal. The catch? It’s carried now by some Whole Foods locations, but is otherwise hard to come by.

Indiana Jones PSP Revealed In Rating Application

Posted by Usman on September 5, 2008

We expect that it is the latter, and that we will be hearing more about the console games in due time. For now, it is great news to see another Western developer showing support for Sony’s handheld.

Note to sneaky developers: You can’t hide anything from us. New games have to be submitted months in advance of publication for ratings and reviews by boards like the ESRB in North America and PEGI in Europe. Inevitably, some internet sleuth always finds the rating application months before a game is set to release, even when it is supposed to be a secret.

The Official Bluetooth Headset for PS3

Posted by Usman on September 5, 2008

About 6 months back I posted the first images of the "UN"official PS3 bluetooth headset. Since then alot of people reported the image as being fake, and 3d rendered. Well Sony’s blog site has just confirmed the image is true, the image above will be the actual official PS3 Bluetooth headset. The headset will be officially unveiled during Sony’s Socom Media Day, the unit will come with SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation, as well as a single accessory this October. The unit with Socom Confrontation will be priced at $59.99, and the unit by it self will be $49.99! So that’s just about the jist of it, oh except for all the kick-ass features that are listed below!

* The headset will feature “High-Quality (HQ) mode” with PS3. In this mode, the headset will take advantage of advanced voice technologies and noise cancellation techniques to provide clear and wideband voice input to the PS3. The HQ mode will ensure a much better voice chat quality on the PS3.
* HQ mode will also enable accurate speech recognition required to support or enhance ‘Voice Command’ and ‘Voice Animation’ features. Voice Command was originally used in SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs for PS2 to administer the AI-controlled teammates using the WHO, WHAT, and WHERE format (example: Bravo, Attack, Nav Point Zulu). Voice Animation refers to the in-game character mimicking you during voice chat. With HQ mode, these features can be enabled on a much larger vocabulary in select PS3 games.
* PS3 will display an in-game status indicator exclusively for this headset that will show the headset’s connection status, battery charge level, speaker volume level and microphone mute status.
* Tired of wearing the headset during a long multiplayer gaming session or is your headset battery running out of charge? Just dock the headset in the supplied charging cradle, and the headset will work as a desktop microphone while charging.
* Last but not least, the headset will automatically pair with the PS3 by connecting with a USB cable.

Killzone 2 to feature four-player co-op campaign?

Posted by Fawaz on September 5, 2008

A recent hands on preview posted by PlayStation World UK editor Ian Dean has hinted that Guerilla Games’ upcoming shooter Killzone 2 will feature four-player campaign co-op.

The company has already confirmed that a post-launch patch will add co-op play to Killzone 2, though it was unclear as to how many players would be supported and whether it would be offline or online only.

“And then there’s the four-player co-op campaign to look forward to. Now that really could be something special,” wrote Dean.

Killzone 2 is set to release February 2009 and a mutliplayer beta for press is expected to launch sometime later this year. Stay tuned to PSU.com for more information as we’ve contacted Sony for official confirmation.

Sony PSP-3000 to Launch in Japan for £90+

Posted by Fawaz on September 5, 2008

The new version of the PlayStation Portable, the PSP-3000, will be available in Japan on October 16, 2008 for around £90.

The new PSP-3000 that promises a brighter and sharper LCD screen will launch first in Japan on October 16, 2008. With a price tage of approximately £90, the device can also be used for VoIP purposes using Skype. Unfortunately, the brighter screen doesn’t come without a price–it’ll shave off 20 to 30 minutes of your battery life. While it may not mean much, think of how much 30 minutes of playtime is when you’re bored out of your mind in a plane, a bus, or a ship with a PSP that’s ran out of battery life. Even more unfortunate still, it seems Sony is encouraing people to buy an extended battery pack to compensate for the loss of battery life. I guess this means there are no plans of improving the PSP-3000’s battery life in the future.

Create Separate User Profiles in Google Chrome

Posted by Fawaz on September 4, 2008

The Digital Inspiration blog points out that new-browser-on-the-block Google Chrome shares one thing with Firefox 3 not mentioned in many press reports—a history-aware address bar, or “Awesome Bar,” that can create some red-faced moments on a shared computer. If more than one person on your system is switching to Chrome, and you don’t feel like staying in Incognito Mode all the time, creating a new profile in Chrome requires manually creating a folder in Chrome’s application data folder, but that’s all there is to it. Vista and XP users, hit the link below for help finding your Chrome profiles folder, and then creating a custom shortcut to launch your own Chrome without leaving tracks behind on others.

Sony A900 Ad Leaked, Actual Camera Coming September 10th?

Posted by Fawaz on September 4, 2008

Here’s the first print ad for the Sony A900, spotted in a Danish photography magazine, enjoying bubbles like an 8-year-old girl. But if that’s still not enough to convince you that this 25 megapixel SLR is just days from release, Sony has confirmed an SLR announcement during a Tokyo event next Wednesday. Short of bribing Mr. Sony knocking on your door with an A900 in-hand, this is pretty much the best we can nail things down for the time being.

Logitech unveils illuminating keyboard

Posted by Fawaz on September 3, 2008

If you have ever tried to work in a dark room you know that it can be hard to find all the keys on the keyboard. This is especially hard for the non-touch typist. Many gaming keyboards now feature backlighting, but backlighting is not something seen on most general use keyboards.

Logitech has announced a new general use keyboard that features full backlighting called the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard. The keyboard uses the Logitech PerfectStroke key system for good feedback and typing.

Google Chrome Browser, Finally Here !!

Posted by Fawaz on September 3, 2008

Here it is, folks: the first honest-to-goodness screenshots from Google Chrome, which you can now download for yourself. You can see the main tab setup, the settings windows, the new tab page and the Incognito window. Want to see more? Let us know what you’re interested in in the comments section and we’ll add to the below gallery. Don’t worry, Mac and Linux folks; there’ll be a version for you soon enough. Hit the jump for our gallery and initial impressions.

Our first impression of Chrome is that it’s nice and fast. There’s very little lag opening pages and the entire interface feels very streamlined. Opening it is insanely fast, it’s noticeably faster to get running than either IE or FF>

I love the New Tab page, which displays your most-visited websites, recently-visited bookmarks, and recently-closed tabs. I can see this coming in handy really often and it saving lots of time (in the long run, when you add up the seconds saved.)

PSP Brite battery life will decrease

PSP main man John Koller went to Gamespot to talk about the upcoming PSP Brite, and revealed a few key facts. He admits the change is “minor,” one in a continuing series of changes the PSP may see along its proposed life cycle. Most revealing of all is his comment about battery life: the brighter screen will draw more power, diminishing battery life by 20-30 minutes.
